  A new safety trial that measures vehicles' roof strength shows that four out of the 12 small sport-utility vehicles tested performed well enough to receive a top rating.

  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Tuesday released results of roof-strength tests of a dozen small sport-utility vehicles, the first group of vehicles to be tested under the institute's new rigorous standard. While four received the top rating of "good," the institute rated the roof strength of two models as "marginal" and one as "poor."
