July 25, 2010 - A Tampa resident will be spending the next 6 years in jail in connection with a drunk-driving crash that happened in 2004. According to reports at 10Connects.com, the 25-year-old woman received her sentence last week. The driver had already been convicted of manslaughter and served 8 months in prison in connection with the crash, but she was hauled back into court for violating the terms of her probation when she was arrested for a second DUI last month.

The original charges stem from a car accident in 2004 that killed a 15-year-old girl. The driver had been drinking before getting behind the wheel, and she turned into an oncoming car. Her passenger was killed, but the drunk driver did not suffer serious injuries. She spent 8 months in jail, followed by probation.

Her most recent arrest, for drunk driving, not only violates her probation against drinking, but she was also arrested in a different county without getting permission to leave the county by her parole agent. As a result, the driver has been sentenced to an additional 6 years in jail.
