Drill Bit Stuck in Women’s Head for 11 Months | Florida Medical Malpractice Lawyer

In a shocking report by the St. Petersburg Times, a woman who underwent dental surgery in 2008, was reported to still have a drill bit from the dentist's drill stuck in her head. According to the report, “it was lodged in the right maxillary sinus; the drill bit burr made the 35-year-old woman miserable for nearly a year as she held down a job and cared for her children.” 

Delgado had the surgery to remove two decayed teeth but was not healing properly after the dental surgery. She was complaining of headaches, nose bleeds and uneasy feelings. She was also experiencing dizziness and numbness on her right side, where the burr was. Concerned about these symptoms, she was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital on July 19, 2009 for emergency treatment. Doctors performed a magnetic scan which caused the burr to move in her head. Reports say the shifting of the burr could have killed her. Ultimately, the burr was removed by an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.

A lawsuit asks for unspecified damages and a jury trial.  The dentist who performed the procedure had no comment about the situation.
