Death Rate Drops With Hand Washing | Florida Wrongful Death Lawyer

Although fear of swine flu seems to be fading, there was an article I found interesting in the Wall Street Journal recently that caught my attention because it reminded me of my youth and was something my mother was insistent upon when I was a kid.... the old reminder, always before meals and usually after I had been outside playing, "did you wash your hands?" It seems hand washing became more important back in 1847, in a Vienna hospital, when a doctor started questioning why his maternity patients were dying after being treated by medical students who had just been working on cadavers. Interestingly enough, when he instituted the habit of hand cleaning the number of deaths fell dramatically. Click here to read more from the article because it includes some straight forward info and just good reminders, from the CDC, on when to wash your hands (ie public transportation, changing a diaper,etc), how to do it (sing the Row, Row your Boat song, our grandchild does this !), as well as other helpful tips to avoid such infections as MRSA, staph, strep, E. coli, and salmonella among others.
