In a recent report, information was released by The Examiner stating 2 young children were nearly strangled to death after becoming entangled in the cords which operate a roman shade sold online and in Bed Bath & Beyond stores.
The importer, Louis Hornick & Company is providing consumers with a free repair kit to repair the shades. The kits will be available at the end of November. Until then, consumers should stop using the shades. The article states that the recall includes all colors and sizes of the Dublin Energy Solution Roman Shades. Color selections include navy, khaki, cream, and chocolate. A label on the back of the blinds reads, “Cords and bead chains can loop around a child’s neck and STRANGLE.”
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is still gathering reports of incidents involving these shades, sold during August 2007 through September 2009.
