Nationwide, the economic crisis, in particular gas prices, are forcing state and local governments nationwide to trim their budgets. According to CNN, some governments are redirecting funds that were earmarked for other projects into the fuel budget for government vehicles while other cities and municipalities are cutting services like public transportation.
Here in Pinellas County, Florida, budget cuts have forced the Sheriff to cut back on the number of deputies, actually laying off current sworn personnel.
