Where: 77th Ave | Blind Pass Rd. | St. Petersburg Beach
Another tragic pedestrian accident occured on Tuesday night when a Pinellas County pedestrian was hit by a car while in a crosswalk . The unidentified man is reportedly in the hospital in critical condition.
According to police, the man was walking in the crosswalk, across Blind Pass Road near 77th Avenue about 8 p.m. when he was struck by a car that was heading north on Blind Pass.
Police had also not identified the motorist, as of this news report.
Florida is a dangerous place for pedestrians. Serious personal injury or death of too many pedestrians have resulted from drivers not knowing or not following Florida's traffic laws, particularly at crosswalks. St. Petersburg, Tampa and Clearwater metropolitan areas are ranked second among the deadliest cities for pedestrian accidents in Florida according to a Transportation of America report, "Dangerous by Design" and posted in our Florida Pedestrian and Crosswalk collision resource library.
