"The Five Mistakes That Can Wreck Your Florida Accident Case is a must read for anyone that has been injured in a accident in Florida!"

My case was handled courteously and professionally. All of my questions were answered promptly and I never felt anything I was concerned about was un-important. Judi always had answers and took the time to explain. She was always on top of my case when I called the office.

I really appreciated the fact that Mr. Dodson hired a professional expert to measure and make an evaluation about the place where I fell. The whole process was handled very well. Both Judi and Mr. Dodson were very nice and my experience working with them was professional.

I would recommend Jim Dodson to anyone I knew who was in need of a personal injury attorney.

"I recommend the Law Office of James Dodson.  They were always able and available when I had questions.  They even got me more than I expected right when I needed it most.  I am exceedingly grateful to have had this wonderful group of people helping and getting what we deserve."

Toyota Car Mats Cause Fatal Crash | Auto Crash Lawyer | Florida

Toyota has ordered dealers to inspect their cars for mismatched floor mats following a fatal accident in San Diego County . The fiery car crash, which killed four family members, may have been caused by a mat which was suspected of snagging a gas pedal on a runaway Lexus.

According to the Tampa Tribune article, Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc. planned to issue an order Wednesday to about 1,400 Toyota and Lexus dealers nationwide to insure each of their new, used and loaner vehicles had the proper floor mats and that the mats were properly secured, said Brian Lyons, a spokesman for the Torrance-based company.

Clearwater Auto Accident Attorney | Walk Away From An Accident

I came across some interesting information recently about the safest place for passengers to sit in a car. It's where no one usually wants to sit---the uncomfortable backseat hump! Researchers looked at fatal automobile crashes between 2000-2003 when someone was riding in the middle seat. Factoring in conditions like weather and the age and type of the vehicle, they discovered the rear middle seat was 16% safer than any other place in the vehicle. Overall, riding in the back is 59% to 86% safer than riding in the front, and riding on that uncomfortable hump is 25% safer than riding in the rear window seats.
Sometimes you don't have a choice, especially if the car you are riding in is full of passengers, but actually the seat that no one wants to sit in, is the best seat , according to this study!

Recent Fatal Boat Crash Causes Clearwater Council to Install Warning Lights on the Pass | Clearwater Fatal Boat Crash Lawyer

The decision came three years after it was first proposed by Clearwater's Marine Advisory Board, but a report by the St. Petersburg Times says the City Council has decided navigational warning lights are needed on the Clearwater Pass jetty.

The decision comes on the heels of a fatal boat crash on October 2nd which killed 17 year old, Paige Alyssa Davison and injured several of her friends. The teens crashed into a dark jetty at St. Pete's Albert Whitted Airport.

Another boating hazard will be removed - an 85,000-pound block of concrete submerged below the surface of Clearwater Harbor off the Seminole Boat ramp.

A series of yellow flashing lights on the jetty will warn boaters to steer clear of it.

A good decision by the council which will, hopefully, prevent another tragedy.

Wrongful Death Lawyer | Clearwater | St. Petersburg | MRSA a Super Staph Infection

If you've never paid attention to MRSA you should start doing so. What is it? MRSA is a type of super staph infection,  resistant to most antibiotics, technically it means methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus.   It is a growing problem which threatens the health and safety of us all.

These superbugs became "super " because of the adaptive ability of the staph bug which carries infection. They mutate and change. As antibiotics were developed to combat the bugs they were largely effective in killing them. But the bugs continued to mutate to resist the latest antibiotic. The problem has been compounded by decades of over use of antibiotics by doctors proddled by patients to give them something when they were sick.  What harm could it cause? Apparently, quite a bit of harm over a long period of time.

Add to the mix the inability of the pharmaceutical companies to continue to develop big new antibiotics capable of stopping the mutating bugs. As a result, there are now superbugs for which there is no antibiotic. Contracting such a bug can be fatal.

It is common knowledge that MRSA bugs exist in hospitals. The very place most of us would assume we should be safe. Hospital stays are minimized, in part, to reduce exposure to these bugs by getting the patient out as quickly as possible.

The St. Petersburg Times had a strong editorial on April 8, 2009 about the growing problem these  bugs are causing in athletic facilities of the NFL, as well as high school gyms. Lawyers USA, March 2009, reported a verdict in Dallas recently which awarded $17.5 million in damages to someone who lost all his limbs from hospital acquired MRSA infection. Physicians were sued for failing to timely diagnose the infection and begin treatment. Costs of future medical care for this man was projected to be astronomical. While this case is an eyecatching extreme example, we all must be mindful of the growing threat these bugs have been. Parents, in particular, must become more educated about infections invading locker rooms and gymns, and know signs and symptoms of resistant infection and be assertive in pursuing diagnosis and treatment.

Birth Defects Linked to 2 Antibiotics: CDC Study | Personal Injury Lawyer | Clearwater Florida

Although most women avoid taking drugs during pregnancy, an infection can pose a risk to mother and baby and must be treated. And while many antibiotics have been used safely for decades, resistant strains of bacteria are now forcing doctors to use a wider array of antibiotics. For some, little data exist.

A new study by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention announced in a report  most commonly administered antibiotics (penicillin, erythromycin and others) during pregnancy did not seem to be associated with the birth defects they studied.

However, the CDC study did identify two types of antibiotics linked with a higher risk for several birth defects: nitrofurantoins and sulfonamides, sometimes called "sulfa drugs," which are prescribed for urinary tract and other infections. Some of the birth defects identified included:  anencephaly, a fatal malformation of the skull and brain, congenital heart defects, eye defects, choanal atresia (a blockage of the nasal passage), transverse limb deficiency and diaphragmatic hernia, an abnormal opening in the diaphragm that results in severe breathing difficulties.

The author of the study stresses the chances of having a baby with a birth defect is very small, even if an antibiotic has been linked to an elevated risk.

Women should, however, be cautious about taking either of these mentioned types of drugs during pregnancy and should discuss other options with their doctors.
