Florida law actually prohibits a pedestrians from walking beween two marked crosswalks. I was in Sarasota in a relatively low traffic area with two crosswalks several hundred yards apart and encountered a posted sign on a corner with arrows pointing in both directions, reminding pedestrians they could not cross at that corner because of the crosswalks to the left and right - several hundred yards apart.
We need to remember from a safety point of view, Florida is not a pedestrian friendly state. We do not have a culture that supports it. Cars don't stop just because a pedestrian is crossing a road here.
Make sure when you are crossing, that you are obeying the law.
